The Blind Piper is our local pub with good food and great music on Thursdays (March to December). Then there’s Keating’s Pub (just off the beach) good for a pint and a hot sandwich, Freddie’s Pub with attached grocer, and Ahamore tearoom at Derrynane House.
The many activities from our doorstep include: beaches, horseback riding, walks/hikes, boat trips to the Skelligs, fishing from the rocks, sea & lake, stargazing – this is a designated Gold Tier Dark Sky area, Daniel O’Connell’s historic house, Derrynane national park and delightful tea room, megalithic ogham stone and wedge tomb, Derrynane Abbey ruins, forts etc.
Our house name is based on “Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose”, by Dr Seuss. It is the story of a soft-hearted moose who allows a host of animals to live in his horns before learning the limits of hospitality.
Located above Derrynane Harbour between Sneem and Waterville
